A study in spatial reprieve
The CAMILLA AND MARC Chatswood boutique is purposefully designed to offer spatial reprieve from the kinetic energy of its luxury shopping mall context.
The space is layered in a tactile blush pink render which acts as a calming backdrop to a series of materials across fixtures and furnishings. Patagonia Alpha Granite has been applied to the custom point-of-sale counter and visual merchandising plinths, which act as vignettes of objects and accessories around the store. Plinths are also crafted in pearl wave onyx & marble to reference the existing CAMILLA AND MARC retail vernacular. This unique combination of fixtures and fittings sit atop herringbone-laid oak flooring.
The store layout follows an open plan, with brass hanging rails defining both the circulation and boundary. At the rear of the space, a curved bulkhead signals the entrance into an intimate fitting room space. The fitting rooms use chunky Maharam cotton corduroy in a warm Oleander tone to contrast the Keystone Masland carpet used exclusively in this area of the store in a warm Umbra hue.
CAMILLA AND MARC Chatswood challenges the typology of shopping mall boutique by articulating a residential mood through tone & texture. The boutique provides a quiet a moment for the customer to connect with the hand-crafted nature of the finishes, fostering a unique dialogue between brand, space & experience.
