Aligning the vast and the intimate, the past and the present.
Set within a neo-gothic 1890s cathedral in Melbourne's CBD, the design intent for Reine and La Rue was to allow the grandeur & drama of the heritage-site to be felt whilst shaping a warm & intimate dining experience.
Expressing an idea of parallels, the design both preserves and references the buildings features & materiality through subtle gestures in joinery profiles, flooring composition, and finishes.
Reine and La Rue brings modern French dining to life by integrating historic detailing with modern materiality that adds warmth, texture and subtle tonal variation.
